Start ShoppingI bought a pair of Camino jeans last week. Just back from my first ride wearing them. Did 380kms today and love them. Super comfy. They feel better than any others I’ve had.
I purchased a pair of straight leg previously & now added a pair of regular to the wardrobe.
They are comfortable both on & off the bike and you would not know they are armored jeans without looking closely. Unlike some of the other brands with their 'weird' knee pattern, I can wear these in the office without without anyone knowing they are bike jeans.
The armor also seems to sit better in these than the straight leg version.
The level 2 AAA protection helps put me at ease if something was to happen on the road.
Delivery was very fast too.

Jeans arrived within couple of days. Fits really good. Just got to get use to pressure of knee guards while walking against knee.. Haven’t tried on bike yet or falling off🤞
Good fit and quite comfortable.
The finish quality is quite ordinary, lots of loose threads and stitching. Not bad enough to return, however needed to be fixed before use.
Very happy with these jeans so far. They’ve got a nice heavy weight to them which feels reassuring when riding, but they’re still comfortable enough to wear around town if I’m riding out to dinner or to an event. The fit was true to my usual size, and the material has just the right amount of stretch to not obstruct any movements, which is something I usually really struggle to find with any jeans in general let alone riding jeans. Good length options too. I also really appreciate the flexible protective inserts - they are a lot more pleasant and non-intrusive than the solid chucks of rubber that I have and removed from other cheaper brands in the past. Overall really pleased with them.
Jacket very high quality with great body shape, built tough, heavy materials for ultimate protection. Removable inner vest enabling cleaning, plenty inner pockets. Well fitted, true to size, with inner vest making it slightly tight to body for a slim look, size Medium in photo. Zips enable a looser fit around wrists.
Just purchased my second Armalith shirt to wear when its hot instead of leather. Performs well, just the collar flaps when you get up some speed so tuck it in to stop the flapping.
Had an (opportunity unfortunately) to test both the Braxton jeans and Armalith shirt this week having a slide of about 5 metres, most impact on my right side elbow and right hip. I picked up the bike, few more scratches than me , I felt ok and rode 30 mins home.
Outcome;
My hip is bruised with a criss cross pattern embedded from the armour . The kevlar pants has a few scratch marks, no holes. My right elbow armour then the back armour absorbed the impact, I have a few very minor abrasions on the elbow. The shirt, right elbow above the armour and down the arm and the back is rough and marked but no holes or rips.
Both in the wash and ready to ride again.
I dread to think of the outcome when I used to ride with a t shirt and shorts in summer!
This gear kicks ass!
I had no intention of writing a review of the Calix jeans I've had for over a year, as I agree with most of the existing reviews: they were delivered promptly after ordering online; they fit just the same as regular jeans; and they are comfortable (comfort was checked out on a four week car trip - with the hip armour fitted! - even before I first wore them on the Speed Triple). Strangely (or not) no reviewer commented on the protection the jeans provide if they happen to be sliding down the road. Come on guys, how about taking one for the team?
Well it appears that has 'fallen' to me. The attached photo is the result of tipping into a right hand corner covered in the loose stuff that the road repairers didn't bother to sweep up. Speed as I hit the deck right knee first was in the order of 30-50kmh and I slid for 15 metres or so (it wasn't measured - I'm just guessing from the photo a mate took of the scene). While a wear mark can be seen the jeans were not worn through - so no gravel to pick out of my knee - and if I'd had knee armour I might have saved my knee from the bruising and the small wound (there might be a bit of dry blood soaked through as part of the stain on the jeans).
So, there you are - a crash test of the Calix jeans. All I have to do now is ask Camino how many times I can slide on the same on the same before they finally wear through... I'll leave that research for someone else, if I may (two weeks after the get off and the knee is still a bit swollen).
Fits great, comfortable to ride in, and perfect for the hot Australian summer. It feels good, made of lightweight yet heavy-duty material. The quality finish is excellent. Highly recommend! 👌
